PORTFOLIO REVIEW
JUNIOR
SENIOR
Freshman & Sophomore
The first 2 years of Canyon Creative, students will experience a casual club-like experience. During this time you will observe Junior and Senior level students critique and present projects. You may be asked to participate in the production of graphics for internal projects. We like to think of the following two years as internship prep. Our goal for students during this time is to learn more about print, web, and social media production. Join and experience a working design studio, build your network and grow in your career.
Portfolio Review
In order to advanced to the agency level, students must participate in a portfolio review. This review will determine if you can join either through the UNV-410, 430 or 450 University Internship or apply for a paid internship position.

Frequently Asked Questions
General Information
How does this compare to a real-life design agency?
Canyon Creative functions just like a real design agency. Everyone within the agency is assigned a role, and students are expected to respect these roles. Clients pay for the services provided by Canyon Creative, which ultimately helps fund the agency.
What's the difference between Canyon Creative & Canyon Creative Honors?
Canyon Creative is an agency that provides in-house and external creative services. Canyon Creative Honors is only for students enrolled in the GCU Honors College. The honors group does not work on client projects. Over the school year, the honors group works on a research project to be submitted for the showcase at the Spring Honors Symposium. Honors students may participate in Canyon Creative Agency and Canyon Creative Honors, while non-honors college students may only participate in Canyon Creative Agency.
Where does Canyon Creative meet?
Canyon Creative meets throughout the year in building 35 College of Arts & Media (CAM). We have an additional workspace in building 66 Canyon Ventures.
Do I have to be taking an internship credit or be a paid team member to attend a meeting?
No, we expect students in their freshman and sophomore years to act as apprentices and volunteer their time. A student may attend a meeting and decide it’s not for them. At the end of sophomore year, students may choose to apply for one of our paid internships or University Internship courses, requiring the student to interview and present a portfolio.
